🍕 The Pizza Village Festival

The Pizza Village is an important event held every year in Napoli, Italy, the birthplace of pizza. This festival, which is celebrated from 14 to 23 June 2, transforms the Lungomare Caracciolo into the ‘world's largest pizzeria’. During these days, visitors can enjoy a culinary experience, surrounded by spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples and the Mount Vesuvius.

Variety of Pizzas

One of the bettest points of the Pizza Village is its incredible diversity of pizzas. While Neapolitan pizza has a special place, the festival also features a wide range of styles, from gluten-free options to fried pizzas. Attendees can participate in tastings, exploring flavours and preparation techniques originating in Italy.

Workshops and Activities

The festival is not limited to tasting; it also offers a variety of workshops and masterclasses. Renowned chefs share their secrets on making the perfect dough and baking in a wood-fired oven. Also competitions, such as the Caputo Cup, attract pizzaioli from all over the world, who compete in various categories. The jury is composed of Michelin-starred chefs and takes place in other countries too as in Japan or United States.

2023 edition

The tenth edition introduced the Premio Napoli d'AMare, created by Oramata Grandi Eventi, to celebrate the cultural roots of Naples and Campania and its outstanding performers. The award, a ‘blue dolphin’ designed by Ventrella, symbolises the sea as the driving force behind the city's development. It was awarded to outstanding personalities in various areas, including art, culture, fashion, entertainment, music, cinema, theatre, economy, innovation, and business and industrial development.

Over the years, it has contributed importantly to the recognition of Neapolitan pizza as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
So, the Pizza Village not only celebrates the delicious pizza, but also reinforces the cultural identity of Naples, becoming an event that attracts both locals and tourists.

In 2019, a record-breaking event, it had 1,063,000 attendees and 131,000 pizzas made in just 10 days. The event also featured 50 of the best pizzerias.

The inclusion of a digital asset and the creation of a Phygital Format has turned PizzaVillage into a multi-channel communication project. PizzaVillage is excited to expand its reach and its upcoming large-scale events in Italy and abroad.

Over the years, the product, the "artisans" and the production chain have contributed to sharing the culture and traditions of pizza, creating a real journey.

Pizza and Pizza Village embrace the joy of being together unconditionally, creating anticipation for the next edition full of joy, flavors and aromas.

Recipe:

Brownie

How the brownie was created?

The origin of the brownie is not entirely clear, but there are a couple of theories. One suggests that an American cook accidentally forgot to add baking powder to a chocolate cake in 1897, resulting in a shorter, denser cake, now known as the brownie. To make this recipe, we need:

  • 3 oz (about 6 tablespoons) of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of cocoa powder or Nesquik
  • Optional: chocolate chips and caramel sauce for decoration.

To begin the preparation of the brownie, we mix the elements listed below: One cup of sugar, and 3 ounces (about 6 tablespoons) of butter. You can mix everything without a mixer, but using one is easier and faster. Add three eggs, 1 cup all-purpose flour, and 1 cup cocoa powder or Nesquik. Mix until everything is integrated. It should be a homogeneous mixture, with movement.

Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured mould. The mould should be covered with butter or aluminium foil.

You can add chocolate chips or whatever you like and put it in the oven at medium temperature for 30 minutes or 20 minutes at 180 degrees, always preheating it beforehand.

When it is slightly moist in the center, it is ready.

This preparation can be decorated with caramel sauce and biscuits as shown here if you like, and it is ready.
